Ways To Give to Reach Out and Read

Reach Out and Read Greater Philadelphia solely relies on donations and support from schools, community groups, corporations, families, and individuals to maintain this valuable program, through fundraisers and book drives. Below are some ways to help and support Reach Out and Read Greater Philadelphia!

Donate much needed funds

When you donate funds to Reach Out and Read, your dollar is going the furthest it can go to get brand new books into the hands of eager children. Because we purchase books in bulk from publishers, your dollar provides many more books when you give it to Reach Out and Read than when you purchase the books in retail venues.

Host a book drive

Most Reach Out and Read sites are always in need of appropriate gently used books for the literacy rich waiting rooms and exam rooms. Consider hosting a book drive at your office, at an elementary school, your book club or other places! Email info@rorgp.org or call 215-590-5989 for more information.

Donate Gently-Used Books!

Most Reach Out and Read Greater Philadelphia sites can accept donations of gently used books for children so the healthcare staff can promote literacy to more children and families and give them books to take home, keep and enjoy. More than 200,000 appropriate gently used books for children ages birth to 10 are needed to distribute each year!

Volunteer as a reader

Adult volunteers (over 18 y.o.) are based in the waiting room at the primary care health center to read aloud with children of all ages, model book-sharing techniques and show by example that reading aloud is fun for parent and child.  Each Reach Out and Read site’s health organization has its own volunteer application guidelines.  Call 215-590-5989 for more information or learn more about volunteering here.
