Reach Out and Read Greater Philadelphia Programs always need brand-new books for children 6 months through 5 years old, and their greatest need is new board books appropriate for infants and toddlers. Here’s how you can help:
Hold a Book Drive
This is a great way for individuals, groups and children to help others, and book drives are fun to do! The new books you collect will be given to children ages 6 months through 5 years when they come for their checkups. Please note, Reach Out and Read Greater Philadelphia has no pick-up service and is unable to pay for mailing/shipping and handling costs for donated books.
Fundraisers
Reach Out and Read Site Coordinators can purchase new books at a 40% - 60% discount, so we can make your dollars go far! By hosting a house party for Reach Out and Read Greater Philadelphia you can highlight the importance of early literacy in the comfortable setting of your home.
Recycle, Reuse and Re-Read!
Gently-used children’s books are used in the waiting rooms of most Reach Out and Read Programs. Gently-used books need to be in good condition (covers and pages intact, clean, and readable). Out of respect for families, Reach Out and Read Greater Philadelphia Programs cannot accept books with sensitive topics and illustrations (such as abuse, death, divorce, holidays, religion, weapons and violence).
